01/2009 Individual, Family, & Group Psychotherapy Now Available in Springfield
RIVER VALLEY COUNSELING CENTER, INC. is very happy to announce that our individual, family and group psychotherapy mental health services are now available in Springfield at 120 Maple Street, Suite 301. Although RVCC has had existing programming at 120 Maple since the early 1980s, the expanded site is now able to provide mental health and psychiatric services in Springfield. The convenient new clinic site is located on the third floor and is on a well –traveled bus route in the community.
All of our mental health counseling programs in Holyoke, Chicopee and now Springfield, allow the client to identify a particular problem that will become the focus of treatment. Community outreach therapy and medication services are available when necessary.
As with all RVCC outpatient mental health sites, the Springfield site will be fully integrated with agency departments and will have experienced English and Spanish- Speaking staff who can provide a continuity of care offering a full range of services including:

Monserrate DelaCruz, MSW, LADC-1, has accepted the new Clinical Coordinator’s position and is responsible for the development and management of our Springfield Clinic. DelaCruz says, “The clinic will prosper and meet the mental health needs of this community.” In her new position Ms. Delacruz will be doing a lot of outreach and marketing to the community to help educate people about the services RVCC offers.
Ms. DelaCruz is a bilingual, bi –cultural clinical therapist who possesses over twenty years of committed human service work in the Springfield, Holyoke and Chicopee communities. In 1996 she received her Bachelors of Science from Springfield College and continued her education at Springfield College to receive a Masters of Social Work in 2002.
Since then, DelaCruz has worked at Gandara Health Center as a group facilitator/program coordinator to develop the Spanish Track Program in conjunction with the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department. While in this position, she conducted and provided oversight to numerous program support groups. These groups allowed many Ludlow inmates support while transitioning from the jail to the Day Reporting Center, (DRC). Ms. DelaCruz managed the daily operations of this new program four years.
When she completed her Masters degree, Ms DelaCruz began working as a clinical therapist for Valley Psychiatric Services in Springfield. While she was employed with Valley Psychiatric Services, she began providing services as an adjustment counselor within the Springfield Public School System. In addition, she will, again, work with adolescents at Dean Technical and Holyoke High School adolescents. Ms. DelaCruz also provides assistance and programming regarding anger management at the Lawrence Elementary School for troubled students. DelaCruz states, “Working with people has defined the true meaning of my existence.”
Although Ms. DelaCruz is a new employee of RVCC, she is not new to the Valley Health System Network. She is a former clinical therapist for the Holyoke Medical Center Outpatient Detox program.
RVCC accepts most insurances and provides services to Medicaid & Medicare clients.
